Updated New York Knicks Salary Cap

These are the projected Salary Cap figures for the New York Knicks for the next five seasons:

Roster Spot Cap Hits have not been applied past the 2010/2011 season except for the 12th Roster Player Spot. Other Notes are listed on the initial post (New York Knicks Salary Cap)
Currently the Knicks are pursing Shannon Brown (formally of the Los Angeles Lakers). Brown is deciding among offers from the Lakers, the Knicks, and the Cavaliers. Rumors have it that the Knicks have offered a contract worth about $4 million this upcoming season; however, according to my calculations, the Knicks could only offer a deal for less than $3 million. A reported selling point for the Knicks is that Brown would start.

After Shannon Brown is sorted out the Knicks will probably look to add a few of the players on the Summer League Roster. The likely candidates are Andy Rautins, Landry Fields, and Jerome Jordan; the Knicks have rights to all three of these players. The Knicks already have five players with experience at center (Amare Stoudemire, Anthony Randolph, Ronny Turiaf, Timofey Mozgov, and Eddy Curry) which does not help Jordan's situation. Andy Rautin's shooting touch, defense, and character give him an edge to make the team despite a disappointing summer league performance. On the other hand, Landry Fields played impressively during summer league which will definitely help his prospectives.

The next big day on the Knicks' calendar is December 15th. This is when the Knicks will be able to trade most of the players that they have recently acquired. Until then, expect the Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony rumors to fade away. Ideally for the Knicks, the Hornets will underachieve leaving Paul disgruntled, and Anthony will not sign an extension which will open the door for a trade as indicated by the Nuggets.

Finally, here is my prospective depth chart assuming that the Knicks sign Shannon Brown, Andy Rautins, Landry Fields, and Jerome Jordan:

Raymond Felton
Toney Douglas

Shannon Brown
Kelenna Azubuike
Andy Rautins
Danilo Gallinari
Wilson Chandler
Bill Walker
Anthony Randolph
Ronny Turiaf

Amare Stoudemire
Timofey Mozgov

Inactive: Eddy Curry, Landry Fields, Jerome Jordan

EDIT: The Knicks have signed Roger Mason Jr. to a 1 year deal worth $1.4 Million. The Knicks now have just under $1.5 Million in cap room. Without Shannon Brown, expect Kelenna Azubuike or Wilson Chandler to start at shooting guard; Roger Mason Jr. could also compete for starting time in this slot. Mason is now the Knicks' eldest player at 29 years of age. Eddy Curry has been in the league longest for 9; however, Amare Stoudemire has been around for one less season, but he has managed to play in 5 more games than Curry for his career (totaling at 516 games). Stoudemire has also played in significantly more minutes.
