2009 Heisman Hopefuls X

Top 10

1. Tim Tebow (QB - Florida)
- Another big win for the Gators. Tebow picked up the win in quite exquisite fashion against the Bulldogs with two passing TDs and two rushing TDs. Tebow has not had the most spectacular statistical season, but running the table in the SEC is definitely worth Heisman consideration.

2. Colt McCoy (QB - Texas) - Like Tebow, McCoy helped his team pick up an important in-conference victory. McCoy only had only 171 yards and a TD against Oklahoma St. He too is leading an undefeated campaign (but in the Big 12). McCoy will have a chance to inflate his stats as the season end with games against three teams giving up over 240 yards per game: UCF, Kansas, and Texas A&M.

3. Case Keenum (QB - Houston) - 559 yards and 5 Touchdowns anyone? Also nabbed the victory against SEC opponent Mississippi State.

4. Jimmy Clausen (QB - Notre Dame) - Clausen picked up 268 yards and 2 TDs against Washington St. Lets see how Clausen adjusts to the pace change against Navy next week when Notre Dame faces the most stable option offense in the land.

5. Dion Lewis (RB - Pittsburgh) - Pittsburgh was off this week. Lewis has a tough stretch ahead of him after Syracuse with Notre Dame, West Virginia, and Cincinnati in his way.

6. Kellen Moore (QB - Boise St.) - The nation's most prolific passer is leading the Broncos to an undefeated season on the blue field of Boise St. Moore added 278 yards, 3 passing TDs, and one rushing TD against San Jose St. As a Sophomore, Moore is reminding college football enthusiasts of the Boise St. team that spectacularly defeated Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl.

7.  Ryan Williams (RB - Virginia Tech) - Williams was held to 96 yards and no TDs in a lose to North Carolina. This is only the second game in which Williams has been held without a TD this season.

8. Jacquizz Rodgers (RB - Oregon St.) - Rodgers ran for 112 yards in a close victory over UCLA. Next week will be an exciting Pac-10 showdown as Rodgers (and Rodgers) face off against Javhid Best and Cal.

9Mark Ingram (RB - Alabama) - Ingram and the Crimson Tide had a off week as they prepared to take on LSU this Saturday in a season defining game.

10. Ryan Mathews (RB - Fresno St.) - Mathews has far and away the most rushing yards in the FBS Division with 1316 yards. Mathews average 8.0 yards per carry against Utah State which accumulated to 185 yards and 2 touchdowns. Mathews is having the best statistical season of any back, but without much national television coverage it is hard to assess the magnitude of Mathews' performance.

Spotlight Players

The Wind (Iowa/Indiana) - Strong winds in Iowa City were responsible for 2 Missed Field Goals, 8 Interceptions, and 3 Big Touchdown Throws. Ricky Stanzi and Ben Chappell each had his work cut out for him with gusting winds in Iowa City. Iowa managed to escape the upset with a turnaround fourth quarter led by Stanzi and the Wind which helped the Hawkeyes remain undefeated.
