Heisman Hopefuls X - November 24, 2008

And the list narrows...

9. Chase Daniel (QB - Missouri) - Daniel is hanging on by a thread, but still has a minuscule chance with a game against Kansas and the Big 12 Championship Game.

8. Javon Ringer (RB - Michigan St.) - While I was watching MSU play Penn St. on Saturday, at the end of the first quarter I wondered who was the running back of MSU before I realized that it was Ringer. Ringer finished the game with 42 yards and a TD, but where are those big games when he goes up against big teams. Ringer's inconsistency (especially against elite teams) raises concern over his ability to play on Sundays.

7. Graham Harrell (QB - Texas Tech) -Who would have thought that the supposed Heisman frontrunner would fail to lead his team when his best receiver was contained? Wouldn't one imagine that he could make a few plays?

6. Shonn Greene (RB - Iowa) - Iiee-chee-ka-baba, 144 yards and two TDs against Minnesota. Greene was considered a talented back earlier in the season, but no one expected him to be this good on such a consistent basis.

5. Donald Brown (RB - Connecticut) -UConn was off last week; however, as previously mentioned these next two games against the elite Big East teams will be critical for Brown.

4. Tim Tebow (QB - Florida) -70 Points. Urban Meyer was at least respectful by giving another quarterback a chance (John Brantley).

3. Michael Crabtree (WR - Texas Tech) - UO was Crabtree's chance to shine on the national stage and win the hearts of all the doubting skeptics that believed a WR could not win the Heisman. Well those skeptics were right, but who is to say that Crabtree didn't put together an impressive run.

2. Colt McCoy (QB - Texas) - McCoy has to make sure that the Longhorns don't overlook Texas A&M this week; it would be quite disappointing to see this season end after a consecutive upset by A&M over Texas.

1. Sam Bradford (QB - Oklahoma) -No explanation required.

Honorable Mention: Dez Bryant, Knowshon Moreno

High Tide: Jarett Dillard, Max Hall, Percy Harvin, Kendall Hunter, David Johnson, Jeremy Maclin, LeSean McCoy, Joe McKnight, Todd Reesing, Marc Sanchez, Charles Scott, Matt Stafford, Chris Wells, Pat White, John Parker Wilson
