Bracketism 101 - February 01, 2008

Bracketism: the art of predicting the field of the NCAA basketball tournament institutions in each school correct slot based on a seeding system and location.
The official guide to this art is located at: http://www.ncaasports.com/basketball/mens/story/9183455
Similar practices are Bracketography by The 10-member NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Committee at http://www.bracketography.com/ and Bracketology by Joe Lunardi at http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology. This site has an accumulation of multiple brackets from across the nation: http://bracketproject.atspace.com/comparison.htm.
Last year I predicted 61 of 65 ( 30 of 34 at-large teams) and with 50 teams within 1 seed of each team's actual placement.
Notes: The sites for the tournament goes as follows: South-Houston, West-Phoenix, East-Charlotte, and Midwest-Detroit.This year the East winner will meet the Midwest winner in the Final Four while the West winner will meet the South winner in the Final Four. The following teams cannot be placed in their respective regions; Charlotte (East), Arizona State (West), Detroit Mercy (Midwest), Houston and Rice (South). As a Syracuse fan, I will do my best to not include any bias toward them or any other of the Big East teams such as Georgetown. This is also a combination of current standing/ranking and prediction; UCLA which isn't ranked in the top 4 is a #1 seed while Xavier ranked 15 is not worthy of a number 4 seed ( the rest of the A-10 is significantly overrated).
